Observing the Total Solar Eclipse at Klyde Warren Park

The Great Northern Eclipse on Monday, April 8, drew in party invites from all directions, with Dallas being fortunate enough to be in the path of totality. One of the most talked-about events for the eclipse was the solar eclipse gathering at Klyde Warren Park.

Kit Sawers, the President and CEO of Klyde Warren Park, collaborated with the Perot Museum to bring together a team of esteemed astronomers and solar experts from Carnegie Science to educate and inform attendees about the celestial event.

Among the VIP guests at the park were well-known personalities such as Lee Cullum, Gillian Breidenbach, Jody and Sheila Grant, and Kristin Bray. The astronomers, including Dr. Dave Osip, Dr. Peter Senchyna, Dr. Sachi Weerasooriya, and Natasha Mezler, took the stage to share fascinating details about the eclipse.

As the eclipse reached its peak at 1:25 pm, the sky darkened, and the eclipse playlist, featuring Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” added to the dramatic atmosphere. The crowd marveled as the city lights flickered on, and downtown residents joined in the excitement from their balconies.

The event was a huge success, with thousands coming together to witness this natural spectacle and create a memorable experience.
