Slow Growth in Cannabis Sales

Cannabis sales saw a 1.7% increase in February after a dip in January, according to data from BDSA, a cannabis data analytics firm. Despite the month having two fewer days, the per-day growth rate was 8.7%. The total sales across 11 states tracked by BDSA reached .74 billion for the month.

In the western markets including Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Oregon, three out of the five states experienced negative year-over-year growth, with growth rates ranging from -9.5% in Colorado to 4.4% in Oregon. Sequential growth increased in two states in this region.

On the other hand, BDSA’s coverage of the eastern markets comprising Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Pennsylvania showed a more varied pattern. In February, year-over-year growth ranged from 5.8% in Florida to a staggering +134.3% in Maryland, which recently legalized adult-use cannabis. Florida and Pennsylvania, on the other hand, remained medical-only markets.
