
First it was the iconic Burj Khalifa, and now one of Dubai’s other landmark buildings is getting the special gingerbread treatment.
Grand Plaza Movenpick Hotel has recreated a Dubai Frame replica out of gingerbread.
The largest of its kind in the world has mean the hotel has been awarded a Guinness World Record for its efforts.
The real Dubai Frame stands at 150 metres while the replica stands at a lofty five and a half meters high and was made using a staggering 4,600 pieces of everyone’s favourite festive spiced biscuit and piped with icing for the details.
The impressive installation, which can be found in the lobby at the Grand Plaza Movenpick Media City, took over 20 of the hotel’s culinary experts over 1,500 hours to make.
The team was headed up by executive chef Marco Amarone, chef Baljit Kumar and pastry chef Shahabuddin Ansari.
“Dubai embodies a philosophy of an endless possibilities and we wanted to recreate an iconic landmark that hasn’t only been awarded a Guinness World Record but that symbolizes prosperity and unity. Hence, during this festive season, we want to make sure all our guests experience moments full of joy, prosperity and hope” said the hotel’s general manager, Alfio Bernardini.
